Word Maker - Box Front
Word Maker is a renamed version of Sylabex, one of the Pepys games that Gibsons retained when they took over the brand in 1984.
The cards in the Gibsons edition are exactly the same as in the 4th edition of Sylabex. I have found copies of Sylabex 4th Ed. rules packed in Word Maker boxes suggesting that there may have been an existing stock of Sylabex cards on takeover that were simply boxed as part of the new Gibsons range.
There may have been later editions of the game featuring a Barcode on the box or other differences but I have not seen any. If found, examples will be added to this page.
To trace the similarities and history of Pepys' long running game see Sylabex 3rd and 4th Editions and the original 1st & 2nd Editions of the 1940s and 1950s.
