There are 44 cards in 4 suits (red, green, blue, black) of 11 cards.


The cards feature images and characters from the film including Judy Garland as Dorothy, Toto, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, the Munchkins, the Witch and The Wizard.

The game is based on the 1939 MGM film the Wizard of Oz based on L Frank Baum's book.


Rex Pitts confirmed that Wizard of Oz was registered to Castell Brothers in May 1940, see also Film Fantasy.


MGM are not mentioned on the box or in the rules but the MGM Logo of "Leo" the Lion with the Latin motto ARS GRATIA ARTIS (Art for Art's Sake) is featured on the card backs.
