"Gulliver's Travels"
First Published: 1940, Anonymous
Illustrator or Designer: Based on the Paramount Film of the same name.
Contents: 44 Cards + Rules leaflet
"There are 44 cards in the pack each bearing a word. These are selected so that correct sentences may easily be made up from them in the course of play."
This colourful word and language game is based on the feature-length animated Paramount film Gulliver's Travels (1939). It was only the second feature-length animated film ever made, the first being Snow White (1937) by Disney.
This 1939 trailer gives a good idea of the animation style and the free interpretation of Jonathan Swift's classic book.
The game was published anonymously but was registered in March 1940 to Castell Brothers (Rex Pitts, Pepys: The Story of The Company and its Games 4th Ed. p 9).
The pack featured here was part of Rex Pitts' personal collection.
